Gut Reset Protocol

Your gut is at the heart of your overall health. When your gut isn’t happy, it shows up everywhere—skin issues, low energy, brain fog, and even your mood. And with the holidays here, unhappy guts are a common occurrence. If you overindulge and your gut is struggling, you’re going to want this gut reset protocol tea blend recipe ready to go.

A gut reset doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does take commitment, nourishing herbs, and the right choices to soothe, nourish, and heal your gut lining. Let’s dive into an herbal gut reset protocol and get you all the tools to make your gut happy again.

The Herbs

Dandelion Root
A powerhouse for digestive health, dandelion root is a bitter herb that stimulates bile production, helping your body break down and absorb fats while gently detoxifying the liver. It’s also rich in inulin, a prebiotic fiber that feeds the good bacteria in your gut, making it essential for a healthy microbiome. A cup of dandelion root tea is a great way to start your morning and jumpstart digestion.

Fennel Seed
Fennel seed is a fantastic herb for reducing bloating and gas, thanks to its carminative properties. It helps to relax the muscles in your digestive tract and improve overall gut motility. A simple tea made with fennel seeds can work wonders after meals, soothing discomfort and promoting healthy digestion.

Marshmallow Root & Aerial
If your gut lining is irritated, marshmallow root is like a comforting hug for your insides. Its mucilage content coats and soothes inflamed tissues, reducing discomfort and aiding in repair. It’s particularly helpful for people dealing with leaky gut or conditions like gastritis. Steep marshmallow root in cold water overnight to make a gentle, gut-healing infusion. Marshmallow’s aerial parts (the leaves and flowers) are beneficial for balancing the mucus membranes in both the gut lining and the lung lining. Aerial parts can be added to a warm tea blend.

Alfalfa
Alfalfa is packed with vitamins and minerals, making it a deeply nourishing herb for overall gut health. Its nutrient density supports tissue repair and helps balance gut pH. Alfalfa is especially beneficial if your gut issues have left you feeling depleted and low on energy.

Anise Hyssop
Known for its mildly sweet, licorice-like flavor, anise hyssop is a soothing herb for digestion and bloating. It calms the gut and supports proper enzyme function, ensuring your body gets the nutrients it needs from food. Enjoy it as part of a tea blend to add a comforting flavor and gentle digestive support.

Chamomile
Chamomile is a classic herb for gut healing, offering anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties. It relaxes the digestive muscles, reduces cramping, and calms the nervous system. Since stress is a common culprit in gut health issues, chamomile works double-duty by promoting relaxation and improving digestion.

Nutrition and Hydration: The Foundation of Healing

No herbal protocol can do its best work without proper nutrition and hydration. While healing your gut, focus on whole, unprocessed foods that are easy to digest and packed with nutrients. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, and be sure to incorporate broths and herbal teas to stay hydrated and nourish your gut lining.

Foods to Avoid During a Gut Reset:

  • Fried Foods: Heavy and difficult to digest, these put unnecessary stress on your gut.
  • Processed Foods: Often full of additives and preservatives that irritate the gut lining.
  • Sugary Foods: Sugar can feed harmful bacteria, throwing off your microbiome balance.
  • Gluten: A common irritant, especially for those with existing gut issues.
  • Starches: Can be hard to break down, especially for those with sensitive digestion.
  • Dairy: Many people find it inflammatory during gut healing due to lactose and casein.

Instead, focus on easily digestible foods like steamed vegetables, bone broth, lean proteins, and gentle grains like quinoa. Pairing these with your herbal protocol will give your gut the best chance to reset and heal.

How to Use These Herbs

  • Morning Tea Blend
Start your day with a soothing and nourishing tea to protect your gut lining.

  • Midday Digestive Tonic
Make another infusion to sip after lunch. These herbs will support healthy digestion and provide essential nutrients to support healing.

  • Evening Relaxation Tea
After dinner have one more cup to support healing. This tea not only soothes the gut but also helps reduce stress, allowing your body to focus on repair as you sleep.

It's All About Commitment

A gut reset isn’t just about fixing digestive issues. It’s about giving your body the tools it needs to thrive. Chronic inflammation, fatigue, skin problems, and even mental health struggles often start in the gut. By using herbs like dandelion root, fennel, marshmallow, alfalfa, anise hyssop, and chamomile alongside a gut-healing diet, you’re laying the foundation for better health in every area of your life.

To fix all that, you need to be consistent. Without consistency, you won’t see a whole lot of improvement. If you’re going to take the herbs but not clean up your eating habits, don’t expect to have real healing. You may heal enough to decrease some of your most difficult symptoms like bloating and pain. But, those symptoms will be back if you don’t take it seriously and commit to some short-term inconvenience.

I promise, the benefits are woth it!
