Spicy-sweet comfort with deep herbal roots.
If you’ve ever craved something warm, grounding, and a little bit spicy—but didn’t want the caffeine hit of traditional chai—you’re going to love this herbal version.
My Herbal Chai Tea Blend is bold, earthy, and naturally caffeine-free. It’s not just a cozy afternoon treat—it’s full of adaptogens, digestive herbs, and circulatory stimulants that support your body and mind in all the best ways.
Let’s break down what’s inside and why each herb was chosen.
Cinnamon Chips
First up is cinnamon. It’s sweet and spicy…think fall in a cup. Cinnamon warms the body, improves circulation, and helps stabilize blood sugar levels. It also gives this blend that classic chai aroma. In herbalism, we often use cinnamon as a synergist, meaning it helps the other herbs work better while adding a gentle sweetness.
Dandelion Root
This root adds a lovely roasted, earthy flavor that balances the sweeter spices. But it’s not just here for taste, dandelion root is a great liver-protecting herb. It gently detoxes, supports digestion, and helps your body process fats and hormones efficiently.
Ashwagandha Root
This is one of my favorite adaptogens for stress support. Ashwagandha is grounding, calming, and helps the body recover from long-term stress and fatigue. It supports the nervous system, stabilizes mood, and even supports healthy thyroid and adrenal function. It adds a slightly nutty flavor that balances the spice in this blend.
Ginger Root
You can’t have chai without ginger. It brings the heat, both in flavor and action. Ginger is a powerful circulatory stimulant, digestive aid, and helps reduce inflammation. It warms the body from the inside out and adds that signature zing that makes chai so comforting.
Cardamom
Cardamom brings a subtle, sweet-spicy floral flavor that softens the sharper spices. It’s usually used in Ayurvedic blends for its digestive and carminative properties, meaning it helps ease bloating, gas, and discomfort after meals. Bonus: it pairs perfectly with cinnamon and orange.
Cloves
Tiny but mighty. Cloves are pungent, warming, and antimicrobial. They support respiratory health, improve digestion, and help fight off colds. A little goes a long way in flavor and action, so I use just enough to give that deep, aromatic chai base.
Rooibos
It’s naturally sweet, caffeine-free, and has a touch of vanilla-honey flavor. Rooibos is rich in antioxidants and has a calming effect on the nervous system. It’s perfect for rounding out a blend like this without overpowering the roots and spices.
Orange Peel
Orange peel adds a beautiful top note to this rich blend. It’s also full of vitamin C and supports digestion.
