Menopause Support Tincture

Women’s bodies go through so many changes during the menopausal years. Did you know that pre-menopause starts around the age of 35 in most women, and menopause doesn’t actually happen until age 52-58…on average? AND… menopause is only one day long and is marked by the 1 year anniversary you have not had a period. After that day, you are officially post-menopausal. Before that day, you are pre-menopausal.

If that’s not confusing enough, your hormones are likely to change drastically from one cycle to the next, bringing with them a slew of symptoms:

  • Hot flashes
  • Mood swings
  • Low libido
  • Severe, prolonged or erratic bleeding
  • Heart palpitations
  • Weight shift & gain
  • Joint pain
  • Sleep issues
  • Skin breakouts & rashes
  • Brain fog & forgetfulness
  • Headaches
  • and more…

There are many options for supporting your fluctuating hormones and there are ways to help with the effects on your body. It takes a while to figure out the approach that works for you because every woman is different. There is no one clear cut way to “treat” menopause, no matter what approach you choose to use.

Hormone replacement therapy is an option that has gotten a lot of negative attention in recent years, but now, bio-identical HRT is available and the side effects are significantly lower.

The herbs that you can use vary based on what your symptoms are. If you are experiencing mood swings and have difficulty dealing with stress, Ashwagandha would be a good herb to look into.

If sleep issues are your struggle, look into Valerian Root and Skullcap.

During the changes associated with menopause, the heart needs to be protected. Hormones affect all organs and the decrease in estrogen commonly causes palpitations, skipping beats, and other arrhythmias. Protecting the heart happens through an active lifestyle, being properly hydrated, eating a menopause supportive diet, prioritizing sleep, and being consistent with the protocol that you choose to use.

This tincture recipe is a general menopausal support recipe for all stages of menopause. The herbs used in it are beneficial to hormones, heart health, the nervous system, and the reproductive system.
