This Pneumonia Tea Blend is created specifically with pneumonia infections in mind, but it can help with way more than that. If you are suffering from virtually any type of respiratory infection, be it bacterial, viral, or fungal, this tea blend can help. The herbs in it contain properties that bring quick relief and promote fast healing.
As with any type of respiratory tea blend, be sure to drink this one as warm as you comfortably can. Herbal properties are also present in their steam, and breathing the vapors in is super comforting and highly beneficial.
Herbs Used To Combat Infection
Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
Licorice root is amazing for coughs and respiratory inflammation. It has antitussive, anti-inflammatory, and demulcent properties to support you during a pneumonia infection. Made into syrup it is very soothing. There are warnings and contraindications with this herb, so be sure you research it before you use it if you have any medical conditions, are pregnant, or are nursing.
Mullein (Verbascum thapsus)
Mullein leaf is popular for lung health. It has expectorant, demulcent, and tonic properties. Basically what all that means, is you need this herb if you have pneumonia. It works with your body to help strengthen and tone your lungs, thin and expel mucus, and balance the mucus membranes in your lungs. Be sure you are only using mullein leaf for this purpose. While you can use all parts of the plant, they all have specific uses. You can read more about that HERE.
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)
This herb is a powerhouse of herbal properties. It includes antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and decongestant properties that can help with a pneumonia infection. Thyme works amazingly well in the respiratory, especially if you have a hard spasmodic cough.
Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis )
Hyssop is known as the “respiratory cure-all”. It has antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, and wound-healing properties that are all beneficial for lung infections.
Plantain (Plantago major)
The most beneficial property to the lungs that Plantain possesses is its astringent property. When you have heavy, intense, spasmodic coughing, it can put small microscopic tears into your fragile lung tissue. Plantain helps to soothe and “knit” those fragile tissue back together.
